Being a Christian

Being a Christian means more than just praying a prayer, it means living a life that you allow God to change. It means building a relationship with God. That is the only way you can know what He wants of you. It is the only way He can teach you and lead you! That is called "being in God's Will". It's a great place to be because it gives you joy even when things in life go wrong.

This is how you build a relationship with God and grow stronger as a Christian:

1) Pray! The Bible says we are to "pray without ceasing". That means you have to keep the lines of communication open, just like in any relationship. You don't just talk, you listen. It is an ongoing thing all through the day. If you only talked with your wife or husband once a day, would you have a very good relationship? Would love grow? Talk to God, tell Him what is on your heart. Tell Him your needs, your sorrows, your troubles and pains. Tell Him your joy! Praise Him! Sing to Him! Remember, He is God and He loves you!

2) Read the Bible! If you don't have one, then let us know and God will help us provide one for you. You can also read the Bible online! I'll add some more links at the bottom of good places to get Bibles and places to hear or read the Bible.

3) Join a church if you don't have one. Not just any church. It has to be a church that teaches the Bible without compromise, that preaches salvation and rebirth through no other way but Jesus. The Spirit in you will tell you if this is where God wants you to be, if you pray and ask God to guide you. You need the teaching and preaching that you can only receive in a good Christian church. Be very careful of any church that imposes rules for salvation not covered here. If you have a question about one, email us and ask us, please. The Gospel is simple, man tends to make it more complex than it is.

4) Baptism by water immersion is not a necessity for salvation, but it is something that even Jesus did. It is a symbol of yielding to God's will for your life. It is a public declaration of your giving your life over to Him. A symbolic dying to this world and your old ways and rising again with Jesus to live forever! Remember, the water doesn't save you, it just tells the world, "I'm saved!"

5) Fellowship (building relationships) with other believers is essential too! The Bible will teach you that we are all part of one "Body of Christ". He is the Head. We need each other for encouragement and love. We help one another through the trials of this life. We keep one another faithful. These are your brothers and sisters in Christ! If you don't know any other Christians it is especially important to get in a good church. Pray for God to bring you Christian friends.

6) Witnessing means telling other people in your life about what you have found through Jesus. Remember, it is a precious gift and one that you need to share at every opportunity! God wants everyone to go to Heaven, but they can't unless they come to know Him as you have! We never know how long life will last. Try to never waste an opportunity to share Jesus with the world around you.

Those are the basics of being a Christian. Just never forget the most important one!

Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

About Us

First we have to thank Michael Gieson, who is the one that God blessed with the inspiration and talent to create "The Walk - John 3:16".  He allowed me to use it here without charge, and even gave me some much needed help on getting it to work right for me. You can read about Mike HERE.  Thanks so much Mike! I know God is going to bless you mightily for allow us to make use of this awesome rendition of God's gift to us all!

Secondly the name was the idea of my daughter long before the site was even conceived. Christina is a fairly new Christian, but God is working in her in a mighty way. She is working on a ministry site also at www.ILoveGod.com . We aren't entirely sure what God is going to do with it, but we are sure He's going to make good use of it!

Thirdly, when we first built this site and used the awesome picture of Christ being crucified, we didn't know where it came from. We have since discovered it is the artwork and inspiration of David Naquin. To see or even purchase the full picture you can visit his site at http://www.crucifiedchrist.com .

Last and least of these is the person typing this. I can honestly say this has been God all the way building this. He gave me the inspiration, the words, and more than that, the knowledge of exactly how to edit the HTML on the files I got from Mike to make "The Walk" work! I don't know HTML at all! I had given up on it and at church one night, when I was praying, God started showing me how to do it! As soon as we got home I went to work, praying every step of the way, and within a couple of hours the majority of this site was complete! God makes the best webmaster there is! :-)

If you want to learn more about myself and my husband you can find us at:

www.hopeforthehandicapped.com This site is under construction as the ministry is changing and growing! God is moving us about 1300 miles from our present location and into new areas of ministry as well! Keep us in prayer, and look for the site back up and running soon!

We'll have some other ministry sites up as soon as we get the funds and God gives the inspiration on what to do. As they come into being, I'll list them here. Check back here regularly as I hope to have something for most holidays including the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and, of course, Christmas!
